New Online Tool for Veterans

The nation celebrated Veterans Day this week to honor the men and women who have and are currently serving their country in military services.  Washington state launched a new online tool on Veterans Day to help those returning to civilian life in the state.

The Veterans Military Crosswalk on helps translate military skills into civilian occupations.  The tool will help find appropriate job openings and contacts the veterans through mobile devices and email notices.

Last year, WorkSource was able to find over 20,000 veterans jobs with an average annual wage of $35,600.  The centers have dedicated veteran employment specialists.  With the new online tool, the centers are hoping to make job hunting even more convenient and be able to reach more veterans and more job openings quickly.

Washington has about 630,000 military veterans who had an unemployment rate of 7.1% last year.
